  Two of my children (now ages 18 and 13) have been attending karate classes under Kevin "Hurricane" Hudson for nearly three years now. Just a few weeks ago, they both earned their black belts! Although our son had been begging to take karate for years, we continued to hesitate--being children of the 80s, we couldn't get "Cobra Kai/sweep the leg" out of our heads! After some good friends discovered Hurricane and enrolled their children, we decided to try an introductory class. Happily, we discovered that Hurricane Martial Arts is quite the opposite of the 1980s stereotype! Kevin Hudson, a seventh-degree black belt, indeed has high standards for his students, but enforces those standards with encouragement and repetition, never with negative reinforcement or harsh correction. He also stresses respect for oneself and others, as well as self-defense. We have seen our children, who are now young adults, grow in kindness, respect, and self-discipline through their martial arts training. They have learned what it means to work hard and set both physical and mental goals for themselves. We highly recommend Hurricane Martial Arts for children and adults of all ages.
